Peta2 is bestowing awards including Most Animal-Friendly Pop/Hip-Hop Artist to celebs for their support of animal rights.

<P>PETA's youth division, peta2, is giving props to celebs like <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a>, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/kesha_/artist.jhtml">Ke$ha</a> and "Glee" star Lea Michele at this year's <a href="http://features.peta2.com/libby-awards-2011/?utm_campaign=1211%20Libbys%20Nominees%20Press%20Pitches&utm_source=peta2%20Pitch&utm_medium=Media#PeopleAndMusic" target="_blank">Libby Awards</a> for their efforts in support of animal rights.</P><P>The Biebs, who appeared in a <a href="/news/articles/1656302/justin-bieber-peta-ad.jhtml">campaign</a> for the organization at the top of the year using Bieber-fied catch-phrases like "My world includes passion for animals, yours should too" and "Animals can make u smile. Adopt from your local shelter," is taking on fellow animal-loving pop star Ke$ha and rappers k-os and Waka Flocka Flame in the Most Animal-Friendly Pop/Hip-Hop Artist category. Ke$ha appeared in an ad campaigning against the slaughter of Canadian seals.</P><P>Michele, who speaks out against the mistreatment of carriage horses in New York City, faces off against "Jackass" star Steve-O, Cobra Starship's leading man and peta2's Sexiest Vegetarian Gabe Saporta, and "Victorious" star Daniella Monet in the Top Animal-Friendly Celebrity category.</P><P>The Ready Set, Tokio Hotel, Hellogoodbye and the Swellers are all up for Most Animal-Friendly Band. Ke$ha and Tokio are also up for Best peta2 ad along with Social Distortion frontman Mike Ness and Yelle.</P><P>The Libby (as in "Liberation") Awards will be decided on January 17 by fan votes as well as peta2. Voting ends December 23.</P><P>"Our nominees have all worked hard to shine their spotlights on a variety of important animal issues," peta2 Division Manager Marta Holmberg said about the nominees, which honors animal-friendly people and products. "As our accomplished stars demonstrate, compassion isn't just a virtue — it's also a road to success."</p>

Justin Bieber Finds Lonely Island’s ‘SNL’ Skit ‘Disgusting’

<P>While <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/timberlake_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Timberlake</a> has always been cool about putting his junk in a box, another Justin, with the last name <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Bieber</a>, was less comfortable singing about his own stuff in a "Saturday Night Live" digital short.</P><P>Playing the part of Lonely Islander Akiva Schaffer, alongside Jorma Taccone and Andy Samberg, the teen pop superstar helped the comedy trio celebrate their 100th digital short. The skit opens with the three guys, including Bieber, who confuses the name Akiva for the sound of a sneeze, introducing their A-lister-filled skit, complete with appearances from Timberlake, Michael Bolton, Usher, Jon Hamm, Will Ferrell and Natalie Portman, as well as character cameos from Shy Ronnie, Jack Sparrow and Sergio the Sax Man, to name a few.</P><P><object width="415" height="233"><param name="movie" value="http://www.hulu.com/embed/dVuPd2wHJSbw-xJffoy_pw"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.hulu.com/embed/dVuPd2wHJSbw-xJffoy_pw" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="415" height="233" allowFullScreen="true"></embed></object></P><P>In tuxes, the three Lonely Island guys (with Akiva as imagined by Bieber) dance around congratulating themselves on the achievement, listing off all the ways they will celebrate (pilates included!). But, as it turns out, Bieber will do anything but he won't do that. And, what exactly is that? Well, you see the guys want to "suck our own d—s."</P><P>Bieber's response? "That's disgusting."</P><P>While Bieber stands as a highlight, so do the Timberlake and Portman cameos in the sketch. Timberlake was back, d—s in boxes and all. Meanwhile, Portman, holding a doll baby, got her gangster rapper on again, proclaiming, "Yeah I had a baby, but I'm still crazy."</P><P>As the short nears its wacky end, Bieber shares, "I was tricked into doing this. I don't endorse this song. No, no, no, no." Of course as he says this, Hamm as Sergio air humps around him.</P><P>In the end, all of the characters get in a room and the guys (with Akiva now in for Akiva) once again share that they will celebrate the way they always intended: by sucking whatever it is they want to, 100 times.</P><P><a href="/news/articles/1685002/usher-saturday-night-live.jhtml">Saturday night's episode</a> was hosted by former "SNL" star Will Ferrell with musical guest (and Bieber's mentor) Usher on hand. Justin Bieber Helps Usher ‘Relive’ Teen Years

‘The first reaction is like no other,’ Usher says on ‘MTV First’ about witnessing Bieber’s ascent to fame.

<P>Back in 1994, a teenaged <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/usher/artist.jhtml">Usher</a> dropped his self-titled debut album and skyrocketed to fame. Nearly 20 years later, Usher is still on top, having lost little career momentum. While he's maintained his own career over the years, he also helped launch <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a> to mega-fame as well.</P><P>As Bieber continues to grow as an artist, Usher explained that the 18-year-old has built up the kinds of friendships and relationships that he would have wanted as a kid star. "Cool part about it is, he's really able to live a dream that I think most teenagers would want to. To be able to have friends like Mayweather. They are actual friends, hang out, talk," Usher told MTV News during "MTV First" about Bieber's friendship with boxer <a href="/news/articles/1685155/50-cent-justin-bieber-floyd-mayweather-fan.jhtml">Floyd Mayweather</a>, who he recently hung out with in Las Vegas. "It's really cool to be able to have friends all around the world and people that can relate to your reality.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Justin Bieber Battle-Dances At Usher's Listening Party" id="vid:767988.id:1685137" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>"I don't think Michael [Jackson] had people like that," he continued. "I didn't have a ton of people like that. I had Puff. I had JD [producer Jermaine Dupri] … but to be able to have friends all around the world that keep you, it's cool."</P><P>Their friendship was on full display recently when Usher performed in <a href="/news/articles/1685228/justin-bieber-usher-twisted.jhtml">"Fuerza Bruta" back in April</a> in New York City. Bieber dropped by to catch him getting his theater kid on, and midway through the show, the twosome battled it out on the dance floor.</P><P>"I was like, 'Come on, I got you. Just chill out.' <i>Set it up</i>," he recalled about tricking the sleepy globe-trotting star to hang with him at the show. "[We] brought him to the middle of the dance floor, and we got it in. But we always show support for each other like that. We was housing a little bit."</P><P>The guys will soon go head to head on the <i>Billboard</i> charts: Usher is set to drop his album, <a href="/news/articles/1685178/usher-looking-4-myself.jhtml"><i>Looking 4 Myself</i></a>, on June 12, and one week later, Bieber will release <a href="/news/articles/1684079/justin-bieber-believe-album-cover.jhtml"><i>Believe</i></a>. While it'll be interesting to see those two fight it out on the charts, what's more interesting for Usher is watching Bieber go through the same stuff he went through as a teen heartthrob.</P><P>"I relive every bit of it, from the screaming fans and the first reactions, shutting down the malls. The first reaction is like no other. To be able to be there, to be there with him and go through those emotions and see that shock for the first time [is exciting]," he said.</p>

<P>You kind of can't go wrong when the soundtrack you've put together for one of the most eagerly anticipated literary adaptations in years kicks off <a href="/music/artist/yeah_yeah_yeahs/artist.jhtml">Yeah Yeah Yeahs</a> singer Karen O's take on <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/led_zeppelin/artist.jhtml">Led Zeppelin</a>'s "Immigrant Song."</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" id="vid:693384" width="240" height="211"></div><p></P><P>Fans heard the throbbing industrial take on the rock classic cooked up by former Nine Inch Nails mastermind and O when a trailer for the David Fincher-directed "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" leaked back in May. And on Thursday, Oscar-winning industrial-rocker-turned-film composer Reznor and musical partner Atticus Ross unveiled the full track list for their "Tattoo" score album.</P><P>The follow-up to their award-winning "The Social Network" score was a labor of love, according to a <a href="http://nin.com/?id=102677" target="_blank">post</a> Reznor put up on the NIN site on Thursday announcing the disc. "For the last fourteen months Atticus and I have been hard at work on David Fincher's 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo,' " he wrote about the American version of the tale of pierced and punished hacker <a href="/news/articles/1655879/rooney-mara-dragon-tattoo.jhtml">Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara)</a> and her muckraking journalist compatriot <a href="/news/articles/1667542/daniel-craig-rooney-mara-girl-with-the-dragon-tattoo.jhtml">Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig)</a>. "We laughed, we cried, we lost our minds and in the process made some of the most beautiful and disturbing music of our careers. ‘Thor 2′ Will Be ‘Huge,’ Idris Elba Promises

Actor tells MTV News his character Heimdall will be ‘more involved’ in the sequel.

A movie like “The Avengers” doesn’t just make $1 billion in a little less than 20 days without having a few sequels already in the pipeline. So, of course, the folks over at Marvel are already hard at work on a handful of follow-ups, including “Thor 2.”

MTV News spoke with Idris Elba while he was promoting Prometheus” about reprising his role as the Asgardian gatekeeper, Heimdall, for the sequel, once again starring Chris Hemsworth in the title role. “Thor 2,” which is scheduled to head into production later this year, is said to explore the other realms of the universe, outside of Asgard and Earth, so that would mean a heavier workload for Heimdall.

Though production has not officially begun, Elba has already started some prep. “I’m actually excited about it,” he said. “I literally just did a costume fitting the other day.”

Elba, who has only seen an outline of the story so far, said that he does anticipate a larger role for Heimdall in the sequel, but added that “Thor 2″ will also be taking a closer look at the people who populate the mythical world. “Definitely Heimdall’s more involved, but also, what’s more involved is who the Asgardians are,” he said. “I think we’ll see a sense of that.”

As past interviews with the cast have indicated, the scale of “Thor 2″ is quite large, but Elba suggested that the focus narrows in on character in a way we haven’t seen before. “It’s a huge film, ‘Thor 2,’ but I also think it’s micro in a way that you start to look at people, who they are a little bit more.”

William Balfour has been convicted, and Jennifer Hudson‘s family can finally get some closure. On Friday, a jury found the singer’s ex-brother-in-law guilty of first-degree murder in the 2008 deaths of Jennifer’s mother Darnell Donerson, brother Jason Hudson and 7-year-old nephew Julian King. Besides the three shootings, 31-year-old Balfour was found guilty of home invasion, burglary, kidnapping and possession of a stolen vehicle. Not surprisingly, he is facing life in prison.

Ke$ha Out For Vengeance In Musical March Madness

Jada Pinkett Smith Talks Famous Family, Cannes with IO Donna

She’s in the midst of promoting her new movie “Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted” ahead of its June 8th theatrical release date and, as part of her press efforts, Jada Pinkett Smith took over the cover of the latest issue of IO Donna magazine.

The 40-year-old actress showed off her beautiful self in the Cliff Watts shot spread while opening up about her excitement to be heading to Cannes, as well as her famous family including husband Will, daughter Willow and son Jaden.

On what Willow and Jaden are busy with right now:
“Jaden is going to Philadelphia with his father for ‘After Earth’, directed by M. Night Shyamalan. Willow continues to sing. After ‘Whip My Hair’ and ‘Fireball’ she has two new albums out and a movie we’re producing ourselves. We are actually preparing for her remake of the musical ‘Annie’.”

On what she’s got going in the near future:
“I can not wait to go to Cannes! I’ve always had great fun at the festival. For the rest I do not know what I will do in the coming months, my schedule does not go further than two weeks … In this period it was hard to split my time between the project of ‘Annie’, the work of Will, to my brother Caleb and James Lassiter – our production team – and the family routine. It is a continuous race … he who hesitates is lost.”

On if her kids decide to take a path away from the public eye:
“Sure, they are very young. Willow could one day decide not to have anything to do with the entertainment world. And the same thing could happen to Jaden. At that point, however, both will be able to get what they want.”

On rumors that she and Will are having marital issues:
“For us nothing has changed: it is the same life as before. When Will is working on a project, I usually have to take care of the boys, but now he is with Jaden because they star in the same movie, and Willow is with me because I’m the producer of her albums and I follow her into the recording studio. Tonight I leave for Philadelphia, going to see Will and Jaden, kiss them, hug them and then return to Los Angeles.”

<P>As expected, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a>'s new single <a href="/news/articles/1681935/justin-bieber-boyfriend-believe-release.jhtml">"Boyfriend"</a> has made an impressive debut. After dropping last Monday, the song has sold 520,000 downloads in its first week.</P><P>The number is particularly meaningful since it places him at #2 in all-time first-week singles sales. Flo Rida's track "Right Round," featuring a then up-and-coming Ke$ha, has the Biebs beat, according to <a href="http://www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/rumormill.cgi" target="_blank">Hits Daily Double</a>. Flo's track sits at #1 with 636,000 units moved. The teen star is back in the studio working on <i>Believe.</i> He explained on Twitter that the album, for which "Boyfriend" is the lead single, will <i>go there.</i> "Here making music addressing the past and the rumors, clearing it all up in the music. Im putting it all out there on this album. #BELIEVE," he <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/justinbieber" target="_blank">tweeted</a>.</P><P>He also tweeted out silly videos of himself acting goofy on mock-up sets of the "Boyfriend" video, which he shot last week. In one, he stands in front of a green screen of icy land and in another he stands in front of a green screen of a fireplace.</P><P>Of course, Bieber already shared that there really will be <a href="/news/articles/1682156/justin-bieber-explains-boyfriend-video.jhtml">fire and ice</a> in the video. "The concept of this video, I mean it's not like a steady concept," he explained to MTV News on the Cali-based set in between shots. "It's not like 'Justin follows this girl to this spot.' No, it's a bunch of amazing scenes: Like a fire scene, we have an ice scene.</P><P>"It's kind of like bouncing back and forth," he said. "And then there's scenes of me and just a bunch of girl dancers, and just some great shots, great artistic shots, great shots of me smiling. It's fun."</p>

Johnny Depp Secures Place As ‘Alpha Vampire’

‘Dark Shadows’ star tells Robert Pattinson that ‘there’s room for two vampires on this block.’

In a recent interview with this big screen vampire, Johnny Depp opened up about any potential vampy face-offs with fellow heartthrob and big-screen bloodsucker Robert Pattinson.

When asked if there’s any sort of blood feud with the “Twilight” star, Depp noted that it’s all cool between the two actors. “There’s room for two vampires on this block — as long as he remembers I am the Alpha Vampire,” he told UsMagazine.com at the London premiere of his campy vampire flick, “Dark Shadows,” which opens this weekend.

Of course Edward Cullen and Barnabas Collins aren’t really cut from the same vampire DNA. Where Edward is brooding and sullen, Barnabas is on the other end of the spectrum, with his oddball charm and old-world demeanor. And their transitions to the modern world are quite different. While Edward had been living in the world over the course of his vampire life, Barnabas had been in a coffin for 200 years before emerging in the 1970s.

When MTV News spoke to Depp about the film, he noted that exploring Barnabas’ evolution in the contemporary world was what drew him to the story.

“Playing a kind of reluctant vampire, in a sense, the reluctant vampire who has been locked in a box for 200 years and his misfortune to be let out in an age when things are probably at their most surreal in terms of 1972,” Depp said. “It’s a very odd period. Things are changing radically; the sort of peace and love thing was over with, and we were rapidly approaching disco, so musically and aesthetically, that was the fun of it, to place this hyper-elegant figure from the late 18th century into one of the weirdest times of all time.”

The film is the latest collaboration between Deep and director Tim Burton. It’s the big-screen adaptation of the 1960s soap opera of the same name.

‘Glee’ Michael Jackson Episode: Rumored Set List Leaks

<P>"Glee" has already dedicated entire episodes to <a href="/news/articles/1637098/madonna-gives-props-glee-episode.jhtml">Madonna</a>, <a href="/news/articles/1648829/britney-spears-glee-episode-everything-need-know.jhtml">Britney Spears</a> and <a href="/news/articles/1639871/glee-lady-gaga-episode-fantastic-matthew-morrison.jhtml">Lady Gaga</a>, and come 2012, it's the King of Pop's turn.</P><P>A rumored set list for the January 24 "Glee" Michael Jackson tribute episode has hit the Web, and it features some of the late singer's greatest hits. <a href="http://perezhilton.com/2011-12-27-glee-michael-jackson-tribute-episode-setlist#.TvoRm0rkk7A" target="_blank">Perez Hilton</a> reports that 14 tracks have made the final cut, although the list has yet to be confirmed by anyone connected with the show.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="'Glee' Cast Members Talk Michael Jackson Episode" id="vid:549513.id:1645343" width="240" height="211"></div><p></P><P>The set list (along with who will perform the track) reportedly includes "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' " (Blaine), "Bad" (the New Directions and the Warblers), "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" (Finn and Rachel), "Smooth Criminal" (Santana and Sebastian), "Never Can Say Goodbye" (Quinn), "In the Closet" (Brittany and Santana), "We Are the World" (the New Directions and the Warblers), "Black and White" (Puck), "Ghost"/"Monster" (New Directions), "Beat It"/"Billie Jean" (Warblers), "The Way You Make Me Feel" (Kurt) and "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" (Artie).</P><P>This is hardly the first time the show has paid homage to Jackson. Back in 2010, the <a href="/news/articles/1657395/glee-thriller.jhtml">New Directions performed his track "Thriller,"</a> complete with zombie garb, during an episode that aired after the Super Bowl. The show has also previously covered "P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)" and "Man in the Mirror."</P><P>Back in 2010, the cast of the hit Fox show had only imagined what it would be like to have an entire <a href="http://hollywoodcrush.mtv.com/2010/08/09/glee-michael-jackson/">episode dedicated to Jackson</a>. "I would love to do a Michael Jackson episode," Amber Riley told MTV News at the time. "You know, it's so many [songs that I love], but my favorite song by him is 'Human Nature.' I love that song."</P><P>While Riley seemed psyched about the opportunity, castmate Jenna Ushkowitz found the possibility a little more daunting. "That's a scary, scary episode to do," she said.
